Abstract

This study examines teacher use of diverse literature in secondary classrooms across three districts in a metropolitan city in Texas. The survey data provides insight to teacher barriers to integrating diverse literature such as district mandates and ways teachers have been working to combat these issues.

Author Biography

Rosa Nam, Colorado State University

Rosa Nam is an Assistant Professor of English Education at Colorado State University. Her research centers on critical literacy, contemporary diverse adolescent literature, and AsianCrit in education. Prior to joining higher education, Dr. Nam worked with pre-service teachers in university and alternative certification programs and was a high school English teacher in Houston, TX.
