Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.-
Submit a cover letter specifying the following:
• Manuscript is not under consideration in another journal
• The type of submission: (a) primary report, (b) brief report, (c) synthesis report, or (d) method report
• Title and brief description of articles major contributions
• Provide a conflict of interest statement
• Confirm the project received IRB approval or why it would be exempt (e.g., systematic review)
- Submit a title page aligned with APA 7th style. Ensure the title page includes each author's name, highest degree, affiliation, and ORCID (if applicable).

Submit a manuscript document that adheres to page limit requirements for that section, adheres to APA 7th style, and includes the following:
• De-identified title page
• Abstract with keywords
• Narrative
- Ensure the manuscript includes the required Open Science Practices statements that can be found under the author Submission Guidelines.
- If Tables are part of the manuscript, submit a separate document for each included Table.
- If Figures are part of the manuscript, submit a separate document for each included Figure.
- Authors are required to obtain written permission and attribution for any copyrighted photo, headshot, picture, graph, chart, etc. used in their publication.
Brief Reports
A manuscript that is submitted and does not adhere to the guidelines below will be returned to the author(s) for corrections.
Authors submitting manuscripts to the Single-Case in the Social Sciences must confirm the manuscript under consideration is not currently under consideration by any other journal. We encourage authors to preprint their manuscripts.
Brief report describes findings from a single-case design. We encourage authors to limit the manuscript to 10 pages (including references but excluding tables and figures).
Abstract limit is 150 words. If the authors are submitting a brief report that is reporting findings from a single-case design, we encourage authors to consult the SCRIBE guidelines for what to include in an abstract.
Keywords should be listed with the abstract. Please include 2 to 4 keywords related to the substantive content of the manuscript and 1 to 2 keywords related to the methodology.
Author bios should be provided for each author. Each bio should be limited to 150 words. Please upload this as a separate file from the manuscript.
Formatting should adhere to APA Style, 7th Edition. Each table and figure should be submitted as its own document separate from the narrative.

Study Preregistration and Analysis Plan Preregistration
Authors must include a statement in the method section specifying if the study was preregistered. If the study was not pre-registered authors need to specify this. If the study was pre-registered, authors need to specify where to access it. The preregistration materials must be de-identified as they will be used during the peer review process.
Replication
Authors are encouraged to submit replication studies. A replication study could fit under any of the manuscript types accepted by the journal.
Registered Reports
The journal will accept registered reports. Any manuscript type could be a registered report. A brief overview of the registered report process is included below.
- Stage 1 submission includes the introduction and method. This will go through peer review. Upon acceptance of the Stage 1 submission, the authors will preregister the agreed-upon methodology. The authors will then carry out the study. The authors will then submit the Stage 2 submission which will include the introduction, method, results, and discussion. This will go through peer review. Upon acceptance of the Stage 2 submission, the manuscript will be published.
- We encourage authors to contact the editors if they are interested in submitting a registered report to identify timelines and feasibility of the proposed study.
Primary Report

Method report describes new advancements in the use of single-case design methodology. We encourage authors to limit the manuscript to 35 pages (including references but excluding tables and figures).
Abstract limit is 250 words. If the authors are submitting a method report that is reporting findings that will inform the use of single-case designs, we encourage authors to consult the corresponding JARS Guidelines that align to the type of research design used.
Keywords should be listed with the abstract. Please include 2 to 4 keywords related to the substantive content of the manuscript and 1 to 2 keywords related to the methodology.

Abstract limit is 500 words. If authors are submitting a systematic review or meta-analysis of single-case design studies, we encourage authors to consult the PRISMA abstract guidelines for what to include in an abstract.
